Job Description

Beniton Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team of professionals.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience with commercial estimating, strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and self-driven.  We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience.  This is a great opportunity to build a career at one of the leading construction firms in the Treasure Valley.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary drawings and information.

• Attend meetings with the Design Team, Owner, and Head Estimator throughout the design process.

• Provide cost analysis and comparisons of material selections and construction assemblies/types.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs.

• Present and discuss estimates with Owner, Design Team, and Head Estimator at set design milestones.

• Develop bid package scope of work for trades utilizing the Head Estimator, Project Manager and Superintendent input.

• Develop subcontractor interest in projects through both phone calls and bid invitation software.

• Submit and manage project drawings, specifications, and addenda utilizing online plan rooms and software programs.

• Conduct/attend pre-bid meetings onsite with Owner, Design Team, and trade contractors.

• Provide answers/clarifications to trade contractor questions during the bidding process.

• Receive and analyze trade contractor bids.

• Input trade contractor bids into the appropriate master estimate or bid summary spreadsheet.

• Prepare and deliver bid submission documents or bid summary to Owner.

• When required, provide post-bid value engineering.

Desired Skills and Experience

• 4-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or 5 +/- years’ experience.

• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, On-Screen Takeoff, and other estimating software.

• Knowledge of different contract methods (Construction Management, Design-Build, General Contracting, etc.)

• Dedicated, well organized, able to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.

• Team player that works well with others and accepts direction/suggestions.

• Ability to focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.  Assumes total responsibility for your work.

• Ability to interact, develop, and maintain a positive professional relationship with others.
